Dr. Fred Miller Accepts Award
The
Leo J. Ryan Educational Foundationä,
A national organization dedicated to educating the
public about abuses of cult organizations presented its
Community Action award to Dr. Frederick H. Miller at its
October 26-28, 2001 conference in Independence, Ohio.
The
Leo J. Ryan Educational Foundationä
provides information to mental health professionals, the
legal community, government, law enforcement, media,
clergy, and families; and serves as an advocate on
behalf of former members, families and children.
Congressman Leo J. Ryan was a champion of causes he
believed would make a difference in the lives of average
Americans. He was tragically assassinated while
investigating allegations of human rights abuses
involving American citizens at Jim Jones’ People’s
Temple, in Jonestown, Guyana, South America, in 1978.
Congressman Ryan is the only Congressman to give his
life while in the service of his country while on active
duty.

The Community Action Award recognizes a person or
group who has waged a successful battle against a cult
or high control group. This award focuses attention on
LJRF’s citizen action mission. It was presented to Dr.
Frederick Miller in recognition for his years of work in
educating others regarding the infiltration of the
Unification Church’s (presently known as the Family
Federation for World Peace and Unification, led by Sun
Myung Moon) programs into public schools and churches in
New York State and around the country. Among his many
achievements, he was able to stop the infiltration of a
teen program in the churches and Christian
organizations on Long Island and in public schools in
Bronxville, NY, and also in New Jersey and other areas
around the nation. Dr. Miller has not only taken this
stand in publications and his web-site www.tlem.net, but
has appeared on radio and television programs around the
country. He has set up information areas outside Moon
events in New York and Washington D.C. In addition he
has contacted and met personally with some of the clergy
who have attended Moon sponsored events, and has assured
the Leo J. Ryan Educational Foundationä
that he plans to continue this stand. |
